The job search continues, and my final day is quickly approaching with my current employer and outplacement service looming in the next week. It will be 3 months of fun learning all the new tricks of the job market once it starts.
Luck, someone you know and being at the right place and time is likely on the list.
Transferable skills too of course.
All it takes is one person. My resume was sitting on someone’s desk for a year and I was recruited to my current company. My number one choice at the time. I may have mentioned it before, but it highlights the fact it only takes one person or event to make a difference.
I actually received a rejection notice yesterday from a position I applied for the day before. An email was sent on Saturday 1:15 pm (CST).
Nice!
It’s ATS likely, the Application Tracking System. I may have said “No” to one of the qualifications and instantly disqualified myself.
Ugh, integrity.
I have a 40% rejection rate as of now for all the jobs I applied to as of 3/16/25, but it will not stop me from pressing forward.
My mental and physical health are going to take priority though.
So, I decided to shred and get shredded.
Yes, I picked up my Guitar For Dummies Book and started working the fret board building up calluses on my fingers. I also started following Jon Dretto on Instagram for inspiration. That guy is cool!
In the meantime, thinking about joining Planet Fitness too, but likely will start with the free weights at home first doing the same workout routine from High School. Yes, I still remember it all, but will start out with lower weights using same reps.
The outplacement service I have assigned to me has an 83% success rate on placing people in new jobs. I am very optimistic about landing a new job soon, but maybe I will be playing “Stairway to Heaven” at Guitar Center wearing a tank top with Spring Break ’98 on it on my way back to the job market.
This time with abs.

Rock on!
